Rovers first win in ten matches moved them above Clacton after a gutsy defensive display and a wonder goal that left the hosts kicking themselves for not making better use of their possession in their opponents’ half.

With Haverhill goalkeeper James Philp being thankful that any effort the hosts got was mainly straight at him, his side went ahead in the 59th minute when a Ben Burton throw was flicked back by Claudio Ofosu and Mitchell Burr hit a 20 yard first time volley left of goal with the outside of his left foot that curled to the right before nipping back inside at the last moment, leaving ‘keeper Joe Fowler stretching in vain as the ball ended up just inside the far post.

A double save by Philp denied Clacton before, three minutes into added time, the home side pushed everyone forward for a free kick, only for the ball to be cleared and Burr managing to knock it forward to Ofosu inside his own half.

Wit Ofosu and his team mates bearing down on goal and without a defender between them he slotted the ball under the advancing Fowler into the bottom corner to cue epic celebrations amongst his team mates and the handful of away supporters.

Rovers: Philp, Luff, Burton, Holmes, Howard, Hobbs, Nurettin, Hunt, Weaver, Ofosu, Burr. Subs not used: Bailey, Wilderspin, Jebb.
