It was a party atmosphere at Horseheath Cricket Club as the club celebrated stalwart Alan Ketteridge’s 50th year playing for the club.
Ketteridge first played for Horseheath when he was just 12-years-old back in 1965.
The celebration at the ground the weekend before last saw him play alongside his three boys; Jason, Robert and Stuart as well as his older brother Michael, who passed the 50-year club milestone two years ago himself.
Not only has Ketteridge, a left-handed batsman, played in the Cambridgeshire Cricket League for so many years, he also one of only a few players to be there at the start of the Haverhill Midweek Cricket some 45 years ago.
He had numerous old friends from years gone by join him on his special day to make up a team to play a current Horseheath XI which saw them post a score of 162 from their 30 overs.
The Horseheath XI managed to overhaul the target in a tight run chase that was dominated by young Jake Ellis, who scored an impressive 50 before retiring.
