Fiona is top of the junior class over at Thorpness

The girls at Haverhill Golf Club have been excelling in the junior section.

Fiona Stokes was the highlight, winning the Thorpness Junior Open with a nett score of 78 against stiff competition, in difficult windy conditions on a tough course.

The Junior Academy fund-raiser held on May 12, was won by a visiting team from Fynn Valley. They narrowly beat the Haverhill host team of Martin Mansfield, Alan O’Donoghue, Richard Newman and Peter Young on count-back.

The event raises funds to support the junior section of the club who are actively supported by the club professionals, Paul Wilby and Ollie Rush.

Juniors can enjoy the full benefits of the PGA professionals’ support for as little as 21 pence per day.

Any parents that are interested in having their youngsters take part in a healthy and sociable hobby are asked to make contact with Ollie or Paul on 01440 761951.
