A scintillating first half display by Borough saw them seize the lead they would retain throughout the rest of the match.

Haverhill Borough scored all three of the match’s points before settling down for a quiet second half.

The first goal was scored six minutes in. A through ball over the Cornard defence found Owen Longley, who passed to Martin Westcott at the back post with a low cross, leading to the goal.

Borough gathered momentum and, within another six minutes, they’d doubled their lead with a second goal, this one coming off the boot of Ryan Weaver 12 minutes into the game.

Charlie Turner made a good save after the visitors launched a counter attack 16 minutes in.

It looked like the tables may have been about to turn on Borough at 31 minutes in when Luke Latham broke through Cornard’s defence to score Borough’s third and final goal.

A couple of spirited, long distance shots from Owen Longley just failed to hit the mark.

The second half passed largely without incident.

Just over an hour in, Luke Latham received a yellow card for tripping a Cornard player who had made a break for Borough’s lines,

No goals were scored in the second half, with Haverhill Borough ultimately winning 3-0.
