Haverhill Borough have plugged the gap left by the departure of top scorer Ryan Weaver by signing Craig Pruden from Hundon.
Pruden has top scored for the past two seasons for the Kershaw Senior A side (two divisions below Borough) netting 51 times in 60 appearances.
The striker, who previously played for West Wratting and Steeple Bumpstead, has already made a big impression on Borough’s player/manager, Martin Westcott.
He said: “He scored a lot of goals for Hundon in Kershaw Senior A. He is quick and has looked sharp in training. I’ve been very impressed and I can’t wait to see him in games and what he can offer us and how he can fit into our side.”
With Borough’s first pre-season friendly away to Cambridge City due to take place at Trinity College Sports Ground on Saturday, July 11, Westcott added that most of last season’s squad have re-signed.
The exceptions are Weaver, who joined Haverhill Rovers, Owen Longley, who is training with Haverhill Rovers and Luke Latham, who is with West Wratting after deciding the extra training, travel and match commitments needed at Step Five football were too great.
Midfielder Leon Bailey has also joined Borough full-time, having been on loan from Haverhill Rovers Under-18s and Westcott is optimistic that another midfielder/attacker with experience of Thurlow Nunn Division One football will sign once he returns from holiday.
Other scheduled friendlies for Borough are; July 18, Chatteris (A); July 21, Biggleswade United (A); July 24, Mildenhall Town (H);July 28, Newmarket Town (H); August 1, Takeley (A).
