Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy is among key club figures set to take part in a question-and-answer session at the ITFC Official Suporters’ Club’s AGM and ‘Meet The Club’ night on Thursday — and if you can’t make it, you can follow the evening as it unfolds on our website.
Sports editor and our Ipswich Town columnist Russell Claydon, who has been writing about Town for the last nine years, five of them with us, will be running a live blog from Legends Bar at Portman Road (which can be found by hovering over the sport tab on the main homepage and then clicking through to ‘live sport’.
You can also join in with your views, which may then appear on our live feed, by interacting with @russclaydon on Twitter.
The Tractor Boys’ early season promise, leading the Sky Bet Championship table at the end of August, has faded fast with McCarthy finding himself being criticized by a growing number of supporters amid a run of six games without a win in the league and seven in all competitions.
The Blues are currently stuck in a rut with Saturday’s equalising goal conceded deep into injury-time in a 1-1 draw at fellow out-of-form side Nottingham Forest the latest in a line of disappointments for the Town faithful, who are sure to want to vent their frustration at Thursday’s event.
McCarthy is set to be joined by his trusted assistant, Terry Connor, to take questions from the floor, while the club has said key senior management from other areas are set to do likewise on their roles, including managing director Ian Milne, club secretary Sally Webb, finance director Mark Andrews, director of academy sales Simon Milton.
The Blues’ media manager, Steve Pearce and director of sales, Rosie Richardson, are two others who will be ready to answer questions on an evening that will get under way from 7.30pm and also include the formal business of the ITFC Official Supporters’ Club’s AGM.
Liz Edwards, chair of the Supporters’ Club, said: “I’m really pleased that ITFC recognised how successful this event was last year and are supporting it again.
“It’s a great chance for fans to meet, talk with and question the people who are responsible for the running of the club.
“It’s fantastic too that Mick and Terry will join us — it’s always a lively session.”
Doors are set to open from 7pm for a prompt 7.30pm start. Evidence of membership of the ITFC Official Supporters’ Club will need to be shown at the door with season tickets or silver, ambassador or Junior Blues club cards all acceptable.
