SUFFOLK PREMIER CUP

QUARTER-FINAL

Haverhill Rovers 2 Lowestoft Town 4

Haverhill bowed out of the cup to Lowestoft, the team from the Vanarama Conference North proving to be too strong on the day.

The hosts actually led following a good goal by Ryan Weaver in the 17th minute, but this was cancelled out in the 35th by Shaun Bammant’s looping header. Although Nick Wilderspin cleared the ball but it had already gone over the goal line.

Home captain Martyn Farrant then brought down Harvey Hodd in the penalty area in the 42nd minute and Jack Ainsley converted the spot kick to give Lowestoft a 2-1 half-time lead.

The away side made it 3-1 on the hour mark through another Bammant effort before a free kick by Will Gardner on the edge of the D on 64 minutes found its way through the wall and into the bottom corner of the net to make the game more interesting.

Haverhill’s hopes were short lived, however, as Farrant unfortunately headed into his own net from a corner three minutes later for the final goal of the evening.
