Haverhill Rovers ended a five match winless run with a 2-0 home victory over Walsham-le-Willows yesterday.
Goals from Martyn Farrant and Charlie Sigler helped Rovers climb above Walsham into 15th in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division table.
Michael Shinn’s side had lost 3-0 at in-form Brantham Athletic on Saturday.
In the First Division an Aaron Forshaw penalty helped Haverhill Borough put a dent in Saffron Walden Town’s promotion hopes.
The 1-0 victory at Catons Lane yesterday followed Saturday’s 2-1 win against Woodbridge Town, which saw Forshaw and Luke Latham both on target.
Norwich City pushed themselves up into the top two with maximum points from the Easter weekend as Bradley Johnson scored the only goal of the game at Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday and followed it up with two more at home to Sheffield Wednesday on Monday in a 2-0 win at Carrow Road.
In contrast, Ipswich Town dropped out of the top six with a return of just a point, having seen victory slip from their grasp at home to then league leaders Bournemouth on Friday with Kenwyne Jone’s 82nd minute header levelling after Freddie Sears had given them an early lead.
A lacklustre display saw them go 2-0 down by the break at Huddersfield Town, with Luke Varney scoring what proved to be no more than a consolation to leave them eighth and three points off sixth.
