Haverhill Borough climb back up to fifth

Haverhill Borough 2 Kings Lynn Town Reserves 1

Haverhill Borough leapfrogged Kings Lynn Town Reserves into fifth-place in the table after avenging a 2-1 defeat in Norfolk earlier this season.

Borough went ahead on five minutes after player-manager Martin Westcott capitalised on Owen Longley’s fine run to shoot home.

Luke Latham then headed Borough further ahead on 41 minutes and although the visitors halved the arrears on 61 minutes they could not find an equaliser.

Borough gave home debuts to recent new signings, forward Chris Thomas (brother of Borough’s assistant manager Gareth and a former Romford and Heybridge Swifts player) and defender Cameron Watson, who has signed from Histon Under-21s.

Borough’s next match on Saturday away to Team Bury (3pm) in the first division.
