Veteran rider Nick Ainsworth couldn’t repeat his earlier victory but gained a fine third in Round Three of Mud, Sweat and Gears.

Riders were greeted by a sunny, windy Henham Park near Southwold, home to the Latitude Festival, which made a fantastic mountain biking venue.

Sandy, stoney fire roads, short steep climb after climb, mixed with some flowing single track and steep technical descents kept the legs burning and was a test for any level of rider.

Other Aerocycles/Haverhill Cycling Club riders Oli Skyrme (8th), Austin Ainsworth (5th) and Eva Ainsworth (6th) tackled the short but very hard course and all rode well in a 25 strong field in the junior section.

Open Category Female rider Cara Ainsworth finished in fifth place and Dan Heath in 31st showing consistent form.

Rob Elliott finished 28th in the sport category.

Grand Veteran Shaun Woodley came back for more and had a fantastic ride to finish 22nd.

Round Four takes place at Hadleigh, Olympic park on May 10 and anybody wanting any details should contact Aerocycles on 01440 762200.
