MARSHALL HATCHICK TWO COUNTIES CHAMPIONSHIP

DIVISION FOUR

Halstead II 192-9 lost to Haverhill II 207-9 by 15 runs

Haverhill came away from league leaders Halstead with an impressive victory.

The visitors new opening pairing of Liam Botten (37) and Carl Bradford (42) got them off to a great start before George Biggs (50) carried on the good work, well supported by Will Bailey (14no) and Aaron Forshaw (28).

Haverhill knew they had to get off to a solid start with the ball against ex Essex professional Ian Pont and Cath Dalton, who hit the national headlines after her century at Felixstowe the previous week.

Dalton fell for just two thanks to a great gully catch by Richard Partridge off the bowling of Martyn Wilkins (15-5-42-1).

Josh Ruthven then had Pont caught by the same fielder in the next over for 18 to put the brakes on Halstead’s reply.

Despite an unbeaten 52 from David Baalham, Halstead came up short after some fine bowling from Will Bailey (9-2-36-2) and Liam Botten (8-0-47-4).
