Haverhill juniors enjoy success with top three spot

Two Haverhill Golf Club juniors, Josh Hulyer and James Iron, enjoyed a successful day when they competed in the Gog Magog Junior Masters.

The event was played over 18 holes on the Wandlebury Course last Monday with a field of 36 juniors, aged under 13 years old, taking part.

Josh finished second overall in the Stableford competition with 37 points, while club-mate James finished third with 36pts.

l The Ladies’ Daily Mail Foursomes qualifier was played on Saturday.

The winners for the second year running were lady captain Sheila Price and Anna Fairhead with a score of 35pts.

In second place were Lyn Fish and Jackie Condon with 31pts and in third place were Denise Walker and Sally Price with 30pts.

Price and Fairhead will go on to represent Haverhill in the Daily Mail’s national event which starts in March 2016.

l Haverhill played in a mixed friendly match away at Bourn the Saturday before last.

The Haverhill Team managed to halve two of the matches, however the overall result was a comprehensive win for the hosts 5-1.

The match results were: Andy & Lyn Fish lost 2&1, Theresa Spittle & Spencer Tatum lost 4&2, Sheila & Gordon Price match halved, Carol & Jim Day match halved, Ann & Harry Thomspon lost 3&2 and finally Doreen & Brian Crosbee lost 4&3.
