Haverhill look to bounce back from defeat
Haverhill captain Joe Woodley has called on his players to get back to winning ways at Lakenheath on Saturday.
The skipper was unhappy with their performance when they were bowled out for just 146 in losing to Copford last Saturday - their first defeat of the campaign.
They take on a Lakenheath side (1pm start) that has mustered just eight points from their three games so far - achieving a top score of just 139-9 in the process - and are bottom of Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship Division Two.
Victory and a maximum return of 20 points could take Haverhill into, or close to, the top three.
Woodley said: “Copford are a good side. They had three of four really good players but I believe we have got 13 or 14 really good cricketers and we have not performed at all.
“I’m looking for a response from the whole side.
“Haverhill wickets have never been fantastic but 146 on that track; we should be getting a lot more, especially in division two.
“Hopefully as the pitches get flatter as the summer wears on they will suit our batters who like to hit through the line of the ball.
“We are still a young side and you are going to have people who are inconsistent.
“You’ve got to expect that, but we want to make sure we get back to winning ways.”
