Haverhill will be looking to put two successive heavy defeats behind them when they travel to Worlington on Saturday (1pm).

Having suffered an 195-run defeat at Braintree, skipper Adam Dellar had called on his players to show ‘how good they are’ in their Marshall Hatchick Two counties Championship Division One match at home to Coggeshall last Saturday.

However, the hosts were bowled out for just 131 in reply to Coggeshall’s 273-8, leaving Dellar disappointed and looking for an improved showing at Worlington.

After the 142-run defeat, he said: “It’s really disappointing not to play better today, especially with the conditions in our favour all day.

“We never turned up and we were outplayed on the day in all departments – batting, bowling and fielding.

“It’s really important we move on from these two results and come back stronger next week against Worlington.”

Haverhill will be without all-rounders Dan Poole and James Smith on Saturday, so Joey Kettle retains his place while off-spinner Callum Brunning returns to the starting XI having completed his first year at university.

Brunning was the team’s leading wicket taker in 2015 as they won promotion from Division Two, taking 47 wickets, and his only first XI appearance this term saw him take 3-15 in ten overs in Haverhill’s one wicket win at Mistley.

Haverhill: Phillips, Pass, Palmer, Dellar (c), Humphrey (wk), Burrows, Ruthven, B Wilkins, Kettle, W Bailey, C Brunning.
