Gorleston 4 Haverhill Rovers 1

Haverhill Rovers ended what has been a tough season just one place above the relegation zone after a defeat at Gorleston.

The hosts went 1-0 up when Joel Watts’ converted a left wing cross in the eighth minute, but four minutes later Rovers were level when defender Aaron Taylor lobbed his own ‘keeper when under pressure from Ty Alleyne.

Tom Daniels’ run and shot put the hosts 2-1 up on 20 minutes and Rovers almost levelled when James Baughurst’s shot was kept out superbly by Gorleston goalie Liam Hembling.

The game was in the balance until the final ten minutes when Gorleston sub Brad Hough struck in the 82nd and 87th minutes to seal a somewhat flattering 4-1 win for the Greens.
