Easton 113-3 beat Haverhill 109 by 7 wickets

Haverhill relinquished their place in the top two after scoring their lowest total of the season in slumping to a heavy defeat against their top four rivals.

The visitors were soon left to regret batting first having won the toss when opener Dan Pass (0) and Ben Wilkins (0) fell in successive Jez Brotherton deliveries to leave them 4-2.

Opener Sam Powell was also soon despatched for four when Tom Bosher took a return catch to leave Haverhill reeling at 8-3.

Adam Dellar and Rob Dovaston led a mini recovery before Dovaston was lbw to Brotherton for three with the score at 26-4.

Dan Poole joined Dellar and the duo put on a partnership of 63 before Chris Wells took the first of his four wickets, having Poole caught for 42.

Once Dellar fell for 32 to Athul Sarangan (9-3-13-2) the rest of the batting folded badly, with the last four wickets going down for just seven runs.

The only other Haverhill batsman to reach double figures was Joey Kettle, who made ten.

Easton made a strong reply as Alan Barker and Jolyon Kimmerling put on 51 for the first wicket before off spinner Callum Brunning had Barker caught by Pass for 33.

Brunning (10-0-45-3) also claimed the wickets of James Cantrell (4) and the in-form Kimmerling (31) but Wells (15no) and Mark Fernley (21no) put on an unbroken stand of 39 to take Easton home.

The result saw Haverhill, who were without first choice players Anthony Phillips, Russ Davis and Liam Savage, drop to fourth and Easton climb to third.

Haverhill will look to bounce back when they play Exning at home on Saturday.
