Linton II 160 beat

Balsham 106 by 54 runs

Josh Hickford’s half-century helped Linton II preserve their unbeaten record at the top of Division Five South on Saturday.

After Linton lost the toss and were put into bat, Hickford watched wickets fall around him as young debutant Elliot Murray (18) and Shinsur John (27) were the only ones to offer any real support.

Hickford departed for 69 off 77 balls as Linton scrambled to a total of 160.

Balsham chased hard at the start but one wicket led to another, as stand-in captain James Gordon stuck to his openers.

Josh Newman (4-40) and John (3-17) took wickets as Balsham were bowled all out for just 106.
