Hills and heat test runners

Nine runners from Haverhill Running Club took on the hills and the heat of the Halstead Marathon last Sunday.

It certainly was a tough day at the races and as the event went on the hills and the sun took its toll on the field of 500 runners.

Mark White was first in for the club, his time being three hours, 45 minutes and 38 seconds.

In running 3.50.13, Karen Martin was in fact the second senior female to cross the line.

Clubmates followed in behind, steely determination and guts helping them to complete the gruelling run.

n Taking part in the Colchester 10k the same weekend was Haverhill’s Ian Elden.

This is a very competitive field and Elden ran a new personal best time of 41.14 and gaining 39th position overall.
