Keeping it simple is key for Haverhill
‘More of the same’, is the simple message from Haverhill skipper Adam Dellar after their victory over Hadleigh.
Haverhill beat Hadleigh by seven wickets on Saturday to register their first win since returning to Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship Division One.
On Saturday they take on Copford at Manor Road (1pm), a side they know well having played them twice (losing both matches) as the two teams gained promotion last season.
Haverhill will be missing all-rounder Dan Poole for the Copford match and the following game at Halstead as he is on holiday. His place will be taken against Copford by Alex Archer.
Although Dellar knows Poole (who took 2-29 against Hadleigh) will be a loss to the side, he has numerous other bowling options, including Josh Ruthven, Ant Phillips and James Smith, who didn’t bowl against Hadleigh.
Dellar also knows what is needed to bring home the win: “We’ve just got to do the same things we did on Saturday and go out with the same plan and just keep it simple.
“That’s just key at Haverhill, it’s a bit of a no frills pitch.
“We need to go out with the same confidence. The boys did that really well on Saturday with their bowling and batting.
“Hopefully we can repeat that on Saturday.”
Haverhill: Pass, Phillips, Palmer, Dellar (c), Humphrey (wk), Ruthven, B Wilkins, Archer, Kettle, Smith, W Bailey.
