Linda represents club in regional competition


Haverhill Golf Club’s Lady Golfer of the Year, Linda Alexander, represented the club at the East of England Ladies’ Golf Medal final held at Thetford Golf Club.

Alexander proved an excellent ambassador for Haverhill, finishing 22nd in last month’s event in a field of 120 players, returning an excellent two-over par score.

Sally Price was the winner of the most recent Ladies’ Medal back on home turf and also won the Ladies’ Midweek Stableford (37 points) while the Saturday Stableford was won by Anne Reed (42pts).

The Alan Wakeman Trophy, a mixed match format for the seniors, was won by Doreen Darbey, Dick Sisman, John Condon and Bob Hammett.

The Peggy McGhee Trophy for teams of one lady and two men was won by husband-and-wife Kirsty and Chris Iron playing with Paul Chapman.

In the men’s section, The IFF medal was won by Ciaran Brennan (41pts) to also win Division Two, while Division One was won by Allen O’Donoghue (39pts) and Division Three by Roger Corbett (38pts).

The Men’s Midweek Medal was won by Andy Fish with a steady nett 68.

The Foundation Cup was won by Harvey Bavester, who returned nett scores of 76 and 69 in tough playing conditions.

The Parklands members held a foursomes match played over eight holes, which was won by Celia Bramwell and Darren Brittain. Parklands offers golf club membership to beginners and those newly-started golfers at reduced rates.
