Linton maintain strong start with comfortable home win

Linton’s first team made it five wins out of six with a comfortable home win to continue their best start for seasons.

The visitors elected to bat and were all out for 154 off 39 overs with four wickets claimed by Anil Joseph and George Udall and one each from AJ Joseph and Connor Campbell.

Openers Steve Munday (20) and Steve Livermore (27) got Linton off to a fast start.

The hosts did lose three quick wickets but Gavin Bowie (31no) and Alex Flynn (48 no) guided the home side to victory with 16 overs and five wickets to spare.

A good mix of youth and experience means they should be able to maintain their push for promotion.

n A great team performance saw Linton III (222-4) to a 96 run victory at Elmdon II in the in the Junior Minor Divisiion South.

After winning the toss and electing to bat Linton made a solid start as Martin (40) and Stuart Tinsley (42) put on a solid 90-run opening partnership.

This was followed by Jordan Godsman (41) and Andy Osborn (27) who put on another 60 runs before Allan Campbell came to the crease and scored a quickfire 41 not out for 222-4 from their 40 overs.

Elmdon were quickly in trouble in their reply after a magnificent opening spell from the 14-year-old Luke Gouldstone (2-34 off eight overs).

He was supported well from Thomas Wrenn (3-33 off seven overs) and Steve Lane (3-16 off five overs).

Some excellent fielding from the whole team saw Elmdon dismissed for 126.
