Rovers show resilience
Coggeshall Town 2
Haverhill Rovers 3
Haverhill Rovers kicked off their friendly campaign for 2015 with a win at Coggeshall on Saturday, having twice come from behind.
The hosts went ahead on 11 minutes following a free-kick to the left of the area that was set back to an unmarked player to finish from 20 yards.
It was 1-1 on 28 minutes when, following some nice play right of the Coggeshall goal, Tye Alleyne was headed a chipped pass beyond Graham Smith.
The home side led at the break thanks to a 38th minute corner that, following a touch on the ball by a Coggeshall player, pinged around the goalline and a combination of Archer, the post and Nick Wilderspin saw the ball go over.
Haverhill’s second equaliser came in the 64th minute, a goalmouth scramble ending with Charlie Sigler scoring at the near left post.
Sigler grabbed the winner in the 81st minute, riding a challenge from a defender at the far post before finishing from Owen Longley’s last-ditch cut-back.
