Rovers vets pay the penalty on the road

Cherry Hinton Vets 2

Haverhill Rovers Vets 2

Haverhill Rovers Vets kicked off their season with a 2-2 draw at Cherry Hinton.

After 25 minutes the deadlock was broken, a fast sweeping corner taken by Kennedy was cleared only to the edge of the 18-yard box and landed at the feet of skipper Paul Iron.

A strong pass to Steve Martin resulted in Rovers’ first goal.

Rovers doubled their advantage 10 minutes after the re-start.

Some sublime passing led to Kennedy springing the offside trap before unselfishly siding a pass to Fisher, who had an open goal to aim at.

However, two penalty kicks allowed Hinton to draw level.
