The team of Year 10 boys will travel to Boswells School in Chelmsford this Saturday and will compete in Group C as they hunt for a place in the last eight of the National U15 Volleyball England Championships, which will be held at the National Volleyball Centre in Kettering next month.

The finals will then be held during the final weekend in April, with the venue not yet confirmed.

Rob Dovaston, head of PE at Castle Manor Academy, said: “This is the first time the team have dipped their toes in at national level - and they are more than holding their own. The team have been working really hard, having two training sessions a week, as well as having a session planned in half term (this week).

“I’m so proud of the boys. Their success is all down to their hard work and I firmly believe we can make it.”

The U15 side progressed to the second round of the tournament at Boswells last month, taking on other eastern region schools.

Facing four other teams, they won three of their group games under captain Kacper Walgorski.

Team work from Connor Wiseman, Mikey Cozzi, Ethan Valente, Idriss Lebbie and Elliott Sharrod saw them finish second in the group and go through to the final 16 tournament.
