Borough skipper Ryan Weaver marked his 100th appearance for the team with a goal as they saw off Leiston to go fourth in the table.

Both the hosts and the visitors wasted chances in the first two minutes of the game, with Letaio Virgalio for the visitors and Chris Thomas for the hosts both missing clear cut chances.

However Borough took the lead after eight minutes when a deep free-kick was headed back to Jonny Milne on the edge of the penalty area and he fired powerfully past Ben Vincent in the Leiston goal.

Six minutes later Milne doubled the Borough advantage after sweeping home a loose ball after another Borough free-kick.

Debutant goalkeeper Graham Smith make a fine reaction save to keep Borough’s two-goal lead intact early in the second half, parrying a shot direct from a free-kick to safety, and after Lee Hurkett was felled in the box, with seven minutes left in the game Borough added to their lead.

Harry Halls’ spot kick was saved by Vincent, although the ball rolled straight out to Weaver to score his fifteenth goal of the season - and his 61st overall in 100 appearances.

Chris Thomas finally got some reward for an evening of toil in the lone front man role two minutes later, controlling a pass from substitute Kieran O’Neill on his chest and then firing past Vincent to register his first goal since joining Borough.

Leiston’s Paulo Vernanden completed the scoring 60 seconds later, shooting past Smith to make the final score 4-1 to the hosts.

Borough are in league action again on Saturday at home to Dereham Town Reserves (3pm).

Borough: Smith, Halls, Hurkett, Watson, O’Connor, Thomas G (Hunt 76), Weaver, Milne, Thomas C, Forshaw (O’Neill 67), Latham (Bailey 76).
