Weekend round-up: Haverhill Cricket Club bounce back with vital win against Exning

Haverhill Cricket Club bounced back from last week’s defeat at promotion rivals Easton with a vital seven wicket victory against Exning.

Callum Brunning (4-30), Ben Wilkins (3-33) and Dan Poole (2-8) were in fine form as Haverhill bowled their opponents all out for 147 runs.

Adam Dellar struck an unbeaten 81 to see Haverhill over the line on 148-3, and with the win move up one place into third in the Two Counties Championship Division Two table.

In the football, Haverhill Rovers started their pre-season friendlies with a hard-fought 3-2 win at Coggeshall Town.

Charlie Sigler (two) and Tyrone Alleyne got the goals for Michael Shinn’s side, who came from 1-0 and 2-1 down to secure victory in Essex.

Haverhill Borough opened their pre-season campaign with a 3-0 defeat against higher level Cambridge City.
