Adam Stewart, who shot to fame on Channel 4’s First Dates, is appearing in the Bury St Edmunds Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society’s production of West End favourite, Legally Blonde the Musical.
The 40 year-old painter and decorator shot to fame after his first date with Dan Muncaster-Ross, with whom he fell in love during a very honest first date on the Channel 4’s reality TV show in November.
Having had a very exciting year, Adam said: “What a difference a year makes! Just this time last year, I was rehearsing for our Oliver! production, and joking with friends about applying for the programme.
“I had no idea that within a year, I’d be on national TV, get engaged, be interviewed in magazines and BBC’s One Show, and even be noticed in the street.”
The show tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority queen who enrols at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend, Warner. However, the blonde quickly learns how her knowledge of the law can help others.
Adam will take to the stage as the “Cute UPS Guy”, Kyle, the love interest of beautician, Paulette.
Adam continues: “I absolutely adore performing in musicals and I can’t wait to get back to the Theatre Royal in April.
“Once again, I’m fortunate enough to perform at such a beautiful theatre, with talented people who I adore, and be in such a fab show. “This is the first time that Dan will see me on stage; I’m excited, yet nervous!”
Director of Legally Blonde the Musical, Jamie Maguire, said: “As always, we’re delighted that Adam is part of the cast; we like to think that musicals are his true love, but I guess we now have to make room for his fiancée, Dan!
“Filled with catchy tunes, the musical is a modern take on a boy meet girl story, and is an upbeat comedy, showcasing the importance of using talents and knowledge, to help other people.
“I’m thrilled to be working with such a talented cast and crew, and look forward to bringing Legally Blonde the Musical to Bury St Edmunds.”
